Making Your Potential

I recently was listening to a podcast by Impact Theory where the host, Tom Bilyeu, interviews his guest, David Goggins, for the second time. This is personally my favorite interview of David Goggins. He brings up new ideas not mentioned before that helped him reach new limits. If you don't know about David Goggins, here is a short snippet from his Wikipedia page:

David Goggins (born February 17, 1975) is an American ultramarathon runner, ultra-distance cyclist, triathlete, motivational speaker and author. He is a retired United States Navy SEALand former United States Air Force Tactical Air Control Party member who served in the War in Afghanistan and the Iraq War. He is the former world record holder for the most pull-ups done in 24 hours. His self-help memoir, Can't Hurt Me, was released in 2018.

His accomplishments are awe-inspiring, but his words are mesmerizing. He states in this interview (paraphrasing):

"that if there is indeed for this world somewhere to go and you get there you might see a chart and in that chart, it may tell you who the fuck you should have been in your life. Think about that man could I have lived a much better life if I just suffered a little bit more? In life, I have so much more."

- 40:48 minute mark

This is such a powerful part of the interview. It really is true how if we just push ourselves in our lives, we can reap the benefits of our sufferings.

Why go your whole life not knowing what you're capable of? Because you think you don't deserve it? Because you think you might fail?

These are questions that can hold you back in life if you answer yes to them. By defining your wall by your fears, we box ourselves in without a way out. These boxes we put ourselves in are in fact not there to begin with. We place these mental obstacles because they might have been created because of past experiences. Do not let these thing stop you. Keep fighting and keep the warrior inside you because you can beat the enemies in your head.
